Terrill Citizenship
Award Description
An award is presented each year to a graduating senior who exemplifies good citizenship to further his/her education. The award is funded by a certificate of deposit controlled by the Mullan Foundation. The award can total up to a thousand dollars, based on interest accrued. The award will be presented annually.
A committee made up of educators will judge the citizenship exemplified by a member of the graduating class. There is no “official” criteria for The Jim & Doreen Terrill Citizenship Award; however, suggested guidelines are used to recognize students who:
· Participate
in school and/or community service.
Examples: help the fire department, shovel for the city, city park maintenance, cemetery
maintenance, scorekeeper for ball games, etc.
· Show a
positive attitude toward classmates, school, and community.
· Display
an understanding and appreciation of civic responsibility.
· Possess
strength of character and the courage to do what is right.
· Promote citizenship with the school or community through other activities.
The Citizenship Award is designed to recognize the students that consistently exhibit the kinds of behaviors we want to see displayed in our schools and in our communities. Students who:
The student will be awarded a certificate in addition to the monetary award. A plaque recognizing the award will be engraved with the recipient’s name and displayed in the high school. The statement on the plaque reads as follows:
“The Mullan Class of 1951 has established the Jim and Doreen Terrill Citizenship Award. This award is given to a deserving senior from Mullan High School who exemplifies the caring and generosity the Terrill’s have provided to the schools and community of Mullan.”
